Composer's Voice: December Dance (December 14, 2014)
One of nine concerts that I curated and directed for Composer's Voice (a new music concert series produced by Vox Novus), December Dance was a collaboration with choreographer Andrea Skurr (Ruah Dance), clarinetist and dancer Diego Vasquez, and New Thread Quartet (a NYC based saxophone ensemble). We created a performance that integrated the musicians and dancers in the same space. There were three pieces on the concert:
Blue Toe – (music by David Morneau) Andrea and I collaborated on a short performance to open the concert. I played trombone and moved through the space as choreographed by Andrea and Beth Megill to spatialize the music. She danced through the space, following a separate path that maintained a visual balance, and meeting me at the end of the piece.

Fifteen Minutes of Fame: Diego Vasquez & Andrea Skurr – I crafted a call-for-works through Vox Novus's Fifteen Minutes of Fame project to generate 15 new one-minute compositions for clarinet and dance. Diego is a trained dancer, in addition to being an exceptional clarinetist. In performance he and the dancers from Ruah Dance performed choreography by Andrea.

Moving Lines – (music by Erin Rogers) To conclude the concert, New Thread Quartet and Ruah Dance performed Moving Lines. The saxophone quartet was spaced around the edges of the performance space, adding an element of physical space to the sound, and creating a boundary for the dancers.
